Saraca asoca, commonly known as the ashoka tree is a plant belonging to the Detarioideae subfamily of the Fabaceae family of plants (also referred to as the legume, pea, or bean family). The tree is native to the Indian subcontinent. Evergreen tropical tree valued for its dense foliage and clusters of fragrant flowers. Its bark, leaves, and flowers are primarily used to treat gynecological disorders, manage hormonal imbalances, and support uterine health.It is commonly planted as an ornamental and is also culturally significant in South Asia. The name is sometimes confused with similar-looking trees sold as ashoka.It is classified as 'Vulnerable' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2011)
