Santalum album

Santalum album is included in the family Santalaceae,It is a small to medium evergreen tree known for its fragrant heartwood and oil-rich roots. Native to South and Southeast Asia, it is valued in traditional perfumery, woodworking, and cultural practices. It grows slowly and is often associated with dry, tropical regions.The plant parasitises the roots of other tree species, with a haustorium adaptation on its own roots, but without major detriment to its hosts. S. album is recognized as a "vulnerable" species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
